Pyramids, Slots, and a Few Surprises: The Froggy Take at Luxor

Hopping Into Vegas: Our Stay at the Luxor

We recently hopped down to Las Vegas and stayed at the Luxor, arriving via taxi on a Saturday night around 11 PM. We had tried to pre-check in from Canada, but ran into a few issues with the app and verifying my ID. When we arrived, there was a huge line at the front desk with only three staff working — not ideal. I waited in line while my husband went to explore the property and, of course, sneak in a few slot machine spins. The line was moving slowly, and some people were a little grumpy, but honestly, the staff were doing their best, and it really wasn’t their fault there weren’t more people on duty.

The agent we finally got was super friendly and helpful, which made the wait worthwhile. We were staying in the Tower Premier with two queen beds. Navigating the hallways felt just like wandering through a pyramid (which, let’s be honest, adds to the experience). The room was spacious with a separate shower and tub. Overall, it was fairly clean — there was a lone Q-tip behind the front door and the shower had a few water spots — but everything worked: the air conditioning was great, the TV worked, and the blinds blocked out the sun perfectly.

After dropping off our bags, we headed down to the food court on the atrium level. By that time of night, only three places were open, and we were hungry, so we went with Johnny Rockets. Two chicken burgers, two sides of fries, and a bottle of beer ran over $50 USD — definitely pricey, but the food was cooked to order and decent.

One thing to note: the hotel shops that sell water, beer, and snacks don’t show prices, which felt a bit like surge pricing. We ended up grabbing our drinks and snacks from a Walgreens, CVS, or ABS store on the Strip instead. Also, the room didn’t have a fridge or microwave, which was a bit inconvenient, but we made do with a thermal reusable bag and ice for our drinks — it worked just fine!

Check-out was at 11 AM, but since our flight wasn’t until 10 PM, we used the virtual check-out to skip the line and left our bags at the bell desk for the day. Picking them up before our flight was quick and easy.

Overall, every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful, and while the hotel had a few small drawbacks, our stay wasn’t bad at all, and let’s face it if you are staying in your room the whole time you arent truly getting the feel of Vegas. I’d definitely consider going back for another Vegas adventure!

Until next time, keep hopping into adventures big and small — and remember, even a pyramid has its perks!
